This is for sale on E-bay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOSHIBA-VP100-CED-PLAYER-TOSHIBA-DSA100-CX-STEREO-ADAPTOR-WORKING-GREAT-/282071163234?hash=item41acc06162:g:zs8AAOSwOVpXZDL5

The price is too rich for my blood: $280 + $48 shipping. If anyone has deep pockets, go for it.

too much for me also. Maybe it won't sell and he'll list the decoder thing seperate. I'd like to see the insides to try to figure out how it does what ever it does (if that makes sense???).

certainly these are the least desirable player because of their drive belt issues, contrary to the sellers beliefs... but they should be sold together so i guess it seems like just a bad over calculation of price... id pay like a flat 200 for all that less shipping...

I might pay $150 with free shipping for the stereo adapter alone. I suspect that the adapter can work on other brands of players (i.e. the Sears 934.54780150). I would not pay $330 just to experiment though.

When I bought my first CED player back in 1983 and if I had known that the stereo adapter was available, i would have bought the adapter with the player. But, I was a CED novice at the time and thought that a stereo player was unnecessary. Live and learn.

haha thats what i was thinking the player is worth 50 bucks working, and the adapter is worth 150, unless it has like the original box and receipt lol

Yeah that price is ridiculous. He should have had a best offer on his listing. Oh well, he'll find out when it doesn't sell.

I thought of maybe putting an oscillisope probe into the adapter jack of the player I just got and see what happens? or maybe my frequency counter??? I don't have any schematics/info on that type of player. Mine is a re-branded Toshiba, can't remember what it is now? Wards? I'm not real experienced with a scope. When I played with it some trying to figure things out I got confused about milliseconds and microseconds (I think) and I spent about 36 hours trying to figure those units out or something like that. If someone has an idea of what to look for I could open mine up and look at it. I don't know what it needs to function. Just got it recently and haven't played with it yet.

Well, someone bought the set! I was wondering if it was someone on this forum?

That stereo adapter is only the second one I have seen on E-bay. There was one for sale some years ago that was for a Sears player (I think). Those adapters are very rare.

wasn't me. Ebay somewhat astounds me as to the high prices people may pay for items not worth anything and the low prices when I try to sell anything. The example I always remember, years ago on an old tractor forum someone posted a couple of links. One was to an old manual for a tractor and the manual was in the public domain so it could be downloaded legally. The other link was someone downloaded it and "burnt" it to a disc and then sold it for $90 and someone bought it. Most of the forum members stated they would probably pay the $90 for an actual original manual but this listing made it clear it had been downloaded and burnt to disc??? Usually when I sell something on there I look at completed listings for the item, and say selling prices were between $50 and $75. I then sell my item and get about $25 and then half the time the buyer complains about something that I have noted in the description 3 times! So it's like they read the title but don't bother to read the description. Unfortunately I have some radio shack shortwave receivers I'm thinking of listing. Don't even get me started on my bad luck selling items on craigslist.

I know what you mean about prices not being right. I bought a laserdisc box set of Ben Hur off Amazon for $1.00 plus $4.95 shipping. The box set consists of 4 LD's with the movie and a 5'th LD with a featurette of the making of the movie. Even though the cardboard box is a little worn, the 5 LD's are in very good to excellent shape. The seller could have easily set a price of $15 to $20 for the set.

There is no explaining how prices are chosen.

Since it was a buy it now I have no idea who purchased it. But I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan Garner picked it up just for the stereo adapter. I know he has the Hitachi and Sears one's, this would complete his collection unless there is a Wards branded one too.

As far as selling on ebay, I would agree with the both of you. I always get half of what an item normally sells for and then just like you said, buyer never reads the description then complains about something and half the time paypal refunds them their money. Paypal has never once sided with me. I don't sell on ebay anymore, way too much work for very little profit if any.
